THE LADDER - General notes :

The intention is that this is to be as unstructured/unregulated/friendly as possible, but to give people an opportunity to play singles throughout the season – and not to lose the opportunity once eliminated from the knockout competitions.

Any playing member is free to enter – no charge.

The ladder will be managed by Hugh – and shown on the club website

All challenges are to be played over 18 ends – 3 woods. This is a relatively quick form of the game and should only take around an hour and a half.

If the challenger wins, he moves to the position of the loser and all those in between move down one place. If the challenger loses, there is no movement.

Initially, there are two open challenges per person – this will be valid for 1 month from the start of the ladder, thereafter challenges may be made up to 5 positions above in the ladder. You can make as many challenges as you want – but I would suggest that you complete one challenge before issuing the next – or life could get quite complicated.

Challenges are to be played within two weeks- if you cannot play, you must concede. The only exception to this, is if you are already playing a game.

I will try and put some sort of order into the initial ladder – largely based on league involvement last year, plus a good dash of arbitrary choices, plus an element of alphabetical order (and maybe even a dash of bribery and corruption – after all, I am the treasurer).

I will compile a list of names on the coffee morning/registration day on 11th April - please let me know if you want to be involved, either on the day or beforehand.  After I have put the initial ladder together, if you want to enter, that’s fine, - you will start at the bottom, but still have two free(open) challenges.

If you decide that you no longer wish to continue playing, just decline the challenges and you will be listed as losing and naturally move down the ladder.

It is up to the challenger to arrange a marker (recommend using other ladder participants), however, should you elect not to bother with a marker, that is entirely up to the two players involved.

Play is to be on rinks 1 & 4.

Booking rinks is to be done by the challenger and is to be done as normal – huntonbowls@gmail.com or text Andy Hunt on 07751644441.

The person who ends up at the top of the ladder, will win an honorable mention at the Annual Dinner and a handshake from me.
